Matthew Ward

2018, BA (Hons) Visual Commication - Illustration, Birmingham City University

Matthew Ward is a portrait artist who works in traditional illustration. His main focus is in mark making and contrast and his work is largely based on the things that inspire and influences him.
"I have a strong background in traditional illustration my work is focused on realism but I like to emphasise colour and make the pieces I make bolder than life. And speak clearly for the narrative I'm focusing on. I am hoping to become a portrait illustrator for magazines like little white lies and empire as I have been really inspired by film and music and I feel I might have a style that could compliment their style."
