"Through painting, I am interested in exploring the seam between dream and reality, where the surface becomes like an interface between two different worlds colliding. The paint is formulated through a set of contradictions; opaque and transparent, thick and thin, detailed and vague, locating the paintings somewhere between the point of recognition and the image dissolving into a construction of marks. This creates a space which is dislodged between the imagined and the real, and these opposing dialects provide a context to channel the fusion of the abstract and figurative languages in my paintings. This dialogue formed between the different dualities captured within the paintings is registered by the proximity of the viewer and the surface. "
