Lisa Davies

2018,  MA Multi-disciplinary Printmaking, University of the West of England

Lisa combines drawing, printmaking and embroidery to create surreal landscapes, featuring curious characters reminiscent to those found in traditional folk tales. She relies on visual metaphors and symbols, that although appear childish and naive on the surface, have a deeper undercurrent, exploring cultural values throughout history, and in turn making a comment on modern life. She is also one third of Bristol Print Collective, a group of artists that collaboratively deliver printmaking workshops in pop up venues including festivals, art institutions and community spaces.
