Li Hongxi, a young Chinese artist, graduated from Ual Chelsea in 2018. Her works dominated by multi-media video units are prone to fuse the mighty force of digital media and explore the potential possibility between the virtual world and physical space. Endowed with infinite imagination and innovation, she is proficient in creating vivid works by applying original narrative art derived from her personal perception and identification of life and contemporary social atmosphere. Apart from the impact of eastern and western culture, Chinese Buddhism bestows unique perspective on her to observe and perceive the realistic world along with matters beyond the present world. Currently, she is working on a series of works named NSC - New Sky City that depicts a dystopian humans’ future society, in a satirical way. In her work, she claims “ Although I really abhor the virtual world on the Internet, I can portray my dark fantasy without any physical constraints on Maya, which in return offers me an original role to harness and express this strange relation between me and the virtual world”.
